Background

The Dewan Majlis or Legislative council building is a prestigious structure where Brunei’s parliamentary session is held annually. The authorities were keen on having a reinforced soil structure which is versatile and offering substantial savings in construction time and cost. ATH-Chevron Sdn Bhd worked closely with Tensar to propose its Tensartech® TW 1 System, a Modular block system consisting of Tensar uniaxial geogrids connected with a unique high strength connector to the locally produced, attractive concrete modular facing block to provide an architectural finishes which are aesthetically pleasing. Additionally, the Tencate Polyfelt® Polymat EM was placed on a slope surface. This three-dimensional mat structure of Tencate Polyfelt® Polymat EM provided immediate soil erosion protectio by retaining the topsoil and facilitate vegetation growth that further protect the slope from erosion.
