Background

Uncontrolled watercourse during rainy season has caused the unprotected stream bank at this particular area adjacent to private residental property to erode. The reinstatement of the eroded stream bank has utilised the combination of Gabions and Reno Mattress® as the ideal erosion protection system. Three meter high Gabions was installed along the 50m stretch of streambank at both sides whereas Reno Mattress® was placed at the base of the stream bed. These applications thereby minimise the effect of the hydraulic shear forces, preventing further erosion, scour while maintaining the position of the watercourse.
