Project Description:
In response to the severe flash floods that impacted Brunei-Muara District in 2019—affecting key areas such as Gadong, Menglait, and Berakas—the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI) identified the need for a reliable flood prevention system to protect its premises. As a proactive measure, a flood mitigation project was implemented in 2022, involving the installation of the Buffalo Flood Barrier System at the entrances and exits of AITI’s buildings.
The Buffalo Flood Barrier System is a robust, demountable aluminium solution designed for both short- and long-term protection against flooding and potential water contamination. Engineered for ease of use, the system allows for quick deployment during flood events and can be dismantled and stored away once the risk has subsided.
To prepare the site, the ground was cut and leveled to install baseplates flush with the existing surface. Vertical side channels were then mounted with sealants applied to ensure a watertight seal. Once these preparations were completed, the barrier panels were deployed, forming a secure and effective line of defense against incoming floodwaters.
This installation not only strengthened AITI’s resilience to future flood events but also demonstrated the practicality and efficiency of the Buffalo system in urban flood management.
