Project Description:
As part of infrastructure enhancement works at the Annajat section of the Gadong Highway, a high-performance pavement reinforcement system was implemented to improve durability and extend the lifespan of the road. This project featured the combined use of ACECompo® GB geogrid and Forta-Fi® synthetic fibers, offering a comprehensive solution to address cracking and structural stress commonly experienced under heavy traffic conditions.
ACECompo® GB was applied as a reinforcement layer within the asphalt structure, providing excellent tensile strength and improving load distribution across the pavement. At the same time, Forta-Fi® fibers were incorporated directly into the asphalt mix to reduce the risk of premature cracking, including reflective and fatigue cracking. This synergy between geogrid reinforcement and fiber-enhanced asphalt resulted in a more resilient pavement structure capable of withstanding repeated loading and environmental stress.
The integration of these two advanced materials not only enhanced the mechanical performance of the road but also contributed to faster, more efficient installation. By adopting this dual-reinforcement approach, the project delivered a longer-lasting and cost-effective solution, reinforcing the commitment to building roads that meet the demands of modern traffic while minimizing future maintenance needs.
