CASE STUDY: CIVIL SERVICE INSTITUTE (CSI), KG RIMBA

Installation Year:

2025

Material Supplied:

Geofabrics Megaflo®

Project Description:

Prior to the installation of the Megaflo® subsoil drainage system at the Civil Service Institute, the area frequently suffered from surface water ponding due to a high groundwater table. This caused slippery conditions, restricted access, and reduced the functionality of outdoor spaces.

To address the issue, trenches were excavated according to the required depth and alignment for the Megaflo® system. These flat-panel drains, encased in Polyfelt geotextile fabric, are specifically engineered to collect and redirect subsurface water efficiently. The geotextile wrap acts as a filtration layer, preventing fine soil particles from entering the system and ensuring long-term, blockage-free operation. Collected water is channeled to a sump and then discharged into the existing drainage system.

A base layer of clean washed aggregates was placed in the trench to support the drainage units and enhance performance. Once the Megaflo® drains were installed, the trench was backfilled with more washed aggregates, compacted, and finished with a new layer of asphalt—providing a durable, smooth surface suitable for both pedestrians and vehicles.

Following completion, the drainage system has effectively eliminated water ponding issues, resulting in safer conditions, improved usability, and a longer-lasting asphalt surface.
