Tensar® RE Uniaxial Geogrid
Project Description:
The Berakas Garrison Mini Stadium, managed by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) Brunei Darussalam, regularly hosts sporting events for its personnel. To resolve slope stability issues within the stadium grounds, a comprehensive slope protection project was implemented. This involved constructing a Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining wall reinforced with Tensar RE Uniaxial Geogrids—a modern solution that replaces the conventional steel mesh and precast concrete panel method. The system ensures strong, continuous connections between the geogrids and the facing panels, enhancing the overall stability of the wall.
Manufactured from high-quality High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Tensar RE Uniaxial Geogrids are designed for long-term soil reinforcement. These geogrids stabilize the soil by forming a secure interlock with the backfill, enabling efficient load transfer and creating a gravity structure that remains both flexible and structurally sound. The frictional and tensile interaction between the fill and reinforcement provides robust support, including resistance to heavy loads and seismic forces.
In addition to their structural advantages, Tensar RE Geogrids offer long-term resistance to elongation under sustained loads due to their specially oriented polymer composition. Their open-grid design promotes strong mechanical interlock with various fill types, making it feasible to use locally sourced materials—helping to lower construction costs while maintaining performance and durability.
