Project Description:
This project entails the development of an access road to serve the newly constructed Nimanja building in Tungku. Designed to support both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, the road aims to deliver a long-lasting, high-performance pavement while optimizing construction efficiency and material use.
Instead of using traditional steel reinforcement, the 200 mm concrete pavement was strengthened with Forta-Ferro® synthetic fibers, as outlined in the design specifications. This fiber-reinforced approach eliminated the need for rebar, simplifying the construction process, reducing costs, and enhancing overall concrete performance. Forta-Ferro® fibers help increase tensile strength, minimize cracking, and improve durability by evenly distributing stress across the concrete.
Careful attention was given to joint placement throughout the construction. Construction joints were implemented to ensure seamless transitions between concrete pours, promoting strong bonding and continuity. Meanwhile, contraction joints were placed at strategic intervals to control cracking caused by concrete shrinkage during the curing process. With the use of Forta-Ferro® fibers, the pavement gained improved resistance to cracking and deformation, resulting in a structurally sound and long-lasting access road.
