Project Description:
Coastal erosion continues to be a growing concern, intensified by rising sea levels and increasingly erratic weather patterns. At this particular site, the coastline has been slowly eroding, endangering nearby land. To combat this, the GEOTUBE®️ Cellular Bag System—a geosynthetic solution—was deployed to provide both erosion protection and structural reinforcement. Made up of interconnected cells filled with locally available sand, these geobags are installed along exposed shoreline areas to create strong, protective barriers. As waves and tidal forces strike the coast, the geobags absorb and dissipate energy, significantly slowing down the erosion process. This solution supports climate resilience efforts.
On-site, the cellular geobags have effectively stabilized the sand, preserving the natural look of the beach while enhancing shoreline stability. Their design is tailored to the specific conditions of the coast, ensuring durability and protection of both the ecosystem and nearby structures. Lightweight and easy to handle, the geobags offer a practical and rapid response to erosion issues. They can be easily transported, filled, and installed with minimal equipment, enabling faster deployment and lower construction costs.
